The 7th Stadtwerke Lübeck Marathon on 19th October will, with approx. 3000 attendees, once again be the biggest running event all over Lübeck and the region around Lübeck. The racers from the inland and abroad will start in 5 categories. The supreme discipline of 42.2 km long ago includes the biggest number of participants all over Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Additionally, the marathon in...

...Lübeck is one of the most attractive marathons in Germany. More than 120 relay teams of companies, clubs and institutions from the entire region contribute to the “marathon feeling at the Trave”. There is a great atmosphere with the relay participants cheering on each other in the Breite Straße for hours. For organizers and relay teams to better recognize who is currently running the 10 x 4.2 km mileage, there will be a new service for all teams. For the first time, the names of the teams can be printed onto the numbers with up to 12 letters and symbols. Klaus Ziele, the head organizer of this marathon, is happy about this possibility. “We know, that the relay marathon is a great deal for companies. Therefore the numbers have a high significance”. The Lübecker Marathon e. V. could make the Sparkasse zu Lübeck tell one teams name in advance. With annually up to three relay teams and several single racers from the staff of the Sparkasse, punctual planning is essential. Oliver Saggau (45), management board member of the Sparkasse zu Lübeck AG and active racer with a marathon minimum time of about 3:15:00, seems to be very delighted about his colleague’s willingness to run. “The marathon is good for Lübeck. We, as the Sparkasse zu Lübeck, can see this, too. Our rootedness and networking in this region is out inducement to assume responsibility in Lübeck. Therefore we are one of the most important patrons in this area. My colleagues will start the race with great pleasure and commitment. They will contribute to making the Lübeck Marathon the most outstanding event for the regional running scene”. Alongside with the individual caption of the numbers for each team, the organizers can fulfill one more wish of the relay attendees. For the first time, all the teams get a baton with an inbuilt time keeping chip. This way, the interims of every single participant can be timed. “We will have to miss out on lots of odd batons. Timing the interims is an entirely new experience for the relay marathon in Lübeck”, Klaus Ziele looks ahead.
