In the course of the application process for the 9th edition of the Stadtwerke Lübeck Marathon again runners from other European countries are expected. The marathon from the Holstentor to the Baltic Sea has become an insider's tip for every type of runners. Until now, people from Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands and France have signed in.
The "new date" of the 9th Stadtwerke Lübeck Marathon will be 9th October. So far, no disadvantages are obvisious as the application rate is lightly above the level of the previous year. Chief organizer Klaus Ziele hopes for cracking the magic "4.000-runners-mark" this year. Last year, the starting and finishing area, the relay change area and the market have been expanded plainly. Thus, this year's attention is on the marathon runners themselves. Thus, the Lübeck Marathon e.V. in cooperation with sponsors and partners are currently promoting the event not only in Lübeck, but also throughout Europe. "We touted for our marathon in Prague, Copenhagen, Vienna or Aarhus, among others. Maybe the one or other will take the chance to visit Lübeck and participate in our event", explains Martin Liebschwager.
Furthermore, the organization team is planning certain improvements, for example a split time at the marathon turnaround, a big clock on top of the Ford leading vehicle or more guide marker. All these suggestions were made by athletes and friends of the organization team. "We will discuss which of these ideas are realizable. We are open for any further advices", says Norman Ziele, who holds the reins throughout the year. "All these thousands of details need to be arranged in order to organize the perfect event. Thus, we definitly do not want to stop improving", says the family man and police man based in Lübeck.
The goal of the organization team is to guarentee every participant an extraordinary experience at the Stadtwerke Lübeck Marathon. After all, this marathon is the biggest running event in Mecklenburg-West Pommerania and Schleswig-Holstein. The organization team is very proud on this fact.
